Lamborghini Doors

by Charlie Reese

I have been wanting to customize my Honda CRX for a while. After all, a CRX is a logical choice for anyone into customizing cars. They are small, peppy, relatively inexpensive, and easy to work on. They are very durable and surprisingly high performance vehicles.

The problem is I could not think of a good first project for customizing my car. I could not decide on a new painting scheme that I wanted to use, and I didn't want to take on anything too ambitious. I figured that if I modified the engine and it didn't work out, I would be out one Honda CRX. Nonetheless, I wanted something striking and bold. That is why I decided on installing Lamborghini doors.

Lambo doors are a big fad nowadays. They have been around for decades, but they are only just starting to catch on with other makes and models of cars. Basically, a Lamborghini door is any door that swings up to open. They have special hydraulic stays on the side that allow them to do this. All you have to do is gently push on the door and it will slide up nicely for you.

One of the great things about Lamborghini doors is that they give your car a futuristic look. My first association whenever I see them is the movie Back to the Future. The DeLorean has doors that function in a very similar manner, And that car can travel in time. For anyone who grew up in the 80s, Lamborghini doors have definite high tech associations.

Nonetheless, Lamborghini doors are surprisingly practical. I found this out after I had completed my project. I figured that they would be high maintenance, but they have lasted pretty well so far. They allow me to get out of tight parking spaces Much more easily than my old doors did. They don't take almost any space to open up, so you can squeeze out of the tightest spot without damaging your paint job or risking hitting someone. This is nice if you live in a high-traffic part of the city like I do.

I wouldn't recommend a Lamborghini door kit for anyone who doesn't have either a little bit of mechanical experience or friends who have such experience. The kit that I bought involved some welding, and a lot of other pretty difficult work. You should be able to have Your local body shop guy install the doors, But it is cheaper to do it yourself.
